Mon 21st Apr Seneschalstown 3-6 Na Fianna 5-3

Seneschalstown were narrowly beaten in the second round of the Division 3 league campaign in a closely fought game at Baconstown last Monday. The Yellow Furze side started brightly with points from Sarah Wogan (2) and a goal from Emma-Jane Morton which put them into a five point lead. Na Fianna responded to put the sides on level terms however a pointed free from Wogan left the visitors ahead by the narrowest of margins at the interval.

Seneschalstown were narrowly beaten in the second round of the Division 3 league campaign in a closely fought game at Baconstown last Monday. The Yellow Furze side started brightly with points from Sarah Wogan (2) and a goal from Emma-Jane Morton which put them into a five point lead. Na Fianna responded to put the sides on level terms however a pointed free from Wogan left the visitors ahead by the narrowest of margins at the interval.

Na Fianna upped the tempo in the second period and put increasing pressure on the Seneschalstown defence and scored three goals without reply to increase their lead. The visitors fought hard to reduce the deficit and midfielder Annette O’ Connell led the way with two goals to put Seneschlastown back in contention while Wogans accuracy from frees narrowed the margin between the sides. Geraline Gordon closed the scoring for both teams to leave a goal between the sides at the final whistle. Best for Seneschalstown were top-scorer O’ Connell, Wogan, Sally-Ann Carolan, Celine Quinn, Laura Carey and Dearbhla O’ Carroll.
