Seneschalstown 1-13 Oldcastle 0-06
It took until Round 6 of the Division 1 League but on Sunday May 8th in glorious sunshine Seneschalstown’s Senior Ladies picked up their first win of 2016 when overcoming the challenge of 2015 Coca Cola Senior Championship runners up Oldcastle by ten points in Fr. Tully Park.

It took until Round 6 of the Division 1 League but on Sunday May 8th in glorious sunshine Seneschalstown’s Senior Ladies picked up their first win of 2016 when overcoming the challenge of 2015 Coca Cola Senior Championship runners up Oldcastle by ten points in Fr. Tully Park.
With a mixture of youth and experience dotted around the team Seneschalstown proved too strong for their North Meath opponents and were boosted by the return to action of Grainne Nulty who lined out in the unfamiliar position of goalkeeper.
Playing into the breeze in the opening half Seneschalstown got off to the best possible start when DCU student Amy Gilsenan rattled the back of the net with just four minutes elapsed. Oldcastle replied with a point and picked off another on ten minutes before Ruth Commons, operating at midfield struck for a fine effort. Oldcastle tagged on a free to leave one point separating the sides before on thirteen minutes Stacey Grimes hit her opening score when pointing.
Grimes then knocked over a free, a score which was immediately cancelled out by an Oldcastle point. Stacey Grimes was growing into the game and she chipped over another and then on twenty minutes Louise Coyle opened her account. From there to the close of play it was all Oldcastle but they managed only one point while striking four wides on the bounce. This left the half time score reading Seneschalstown 1-05 Oldcastle 0-04.
Oldcastle struck first in the second half when with two minutes gone they grabbed a point. Stacey Grimes replied with a free but Oldcastle hit back straight away. Newcomer to the team, Nina Murphy who operated on the forty sent over a beautiful point and then Louise Coyle added her second. Substitute and U-16 star Shone Loughran then sent over a brace of scores in the forty seventh minute before Stacey Grimes added a further two points, one from a free and then on fifty-four minutes Amy Gilsenan raised another white flag.
This was a most welcome victory for Seneschalstown and they will look to immediately follow it up when they take on Royal Gaels in Fr. Tully Park on Monday evening.
