Ladies 20th Anniversary Celebrations
Back in 1995 as the club celebrated winning the previous year’s Meath SFC our previously disbanded Ladies Football team was reformed thanks largely to the driving efforts of Dearbhla O’Carroll.

Few back then could have ever envisaged how successful the club would go on to be in the following twenty years as we went on to claim thirteen Senior Football Championships, one Leinster Championship and one Junior Football Championship as well as being defeated in the 2003 All Ireland Championship. To add to that they won the 2010 All Ireland seven-a-side competition.

Over the years many players from the club have also represented Meath from U-12 right through to Senior level including players of the calibre of Deborah Mangan, Louise McKeever and Fiona Mahon to name but three.

Now this Saturday, November 14th, these wonderful twenty years will be remembered as first there is a match between the 1995 and 2015 sides takes place on the pitch beside Kentstown NS at 14:00 and then that evening there will be a social in Maguires Bar and Lounge Kentstown.

The program of events is as follows –
Kick-off: 2pm at Kentstown School Pitch

Please join us for an exhibition of juvenile football followed by an epic battle between the
Golden Oldies(95′ team)
V
Spring Chickens(15′ team)

Drinks reception @ 7pm in Maguires followed by a post-match post mortem and blast from the last 20 years of football!

U-21
It wasn’t to be for our U-21’s on Sunday when they bowed out of the Coolrite Refrigeration U-21 Championship as Skryne on out by 3-10 to 1-08.

Leading by a point at half time and only trailing by one with fifty five minutes played Skryne pushed ahead when a point effort rebounded to a forward off the post and he made no mistake to goal. As our players pushed forward in search of the goal they needed Skryne got a third on the counter attack in stoppage time to put eight points between the teams which overall was probably a tad harsh on Seneschalstown as it had been a tight game throughout.

Our thanks to the management team of Mattie McCabe, Colin Clarke and Greg Lyons for the hard work and commitment which they put in with the team this year.

U-17
Fresh from their opening win over St. Oliver’s our U-17’s will take on Navan O’Mahonys in Round 2 of the Division 2A League on Saturday afternoon in Páirc Tailteann. Throw in is at 15:00.

U-15
It will also be Navan O’Mahonys who provide the opposition for our U-15’s this weekend when they face off in the Division 2 League Final which will be played under lights in Skryne on Friday at 19:30.

When these sides met in Round 1 the Navan side took the points home from Fr. Tully Park but our boys have been improving steadily ever since and in their semi-final showed that they will keep battling until the very end of any game.

Navan O’Mahonys went through the group stages of the League unbeaten while our side only dropped points in that opening encounter.

Like always our supporters can be the proverbial 16th man and with their encouragement from the sideline our boys will be confident of picking up their second piece of silverware for the year so far following their seven a side Shield win back in June.

U-13
The U-13’s lost out to Summerhill last Sunday by 4-08 to 2-09 but despite this loss they managed to advance to the semi-final of the Division 2 League where they will play Skryne.

U-11
Due to the torrential rain which fell over the weekend at different stages the U-11 game on Monday away to St. Colmcilles in Piltown was called off due to an unplayable pitch.

Up next is a match away to St. Patrick’s Stamullen on Monday November 16th at 19:00.

Girls U-15
Our U-15 Girls will take on Oldcastle in the Meath Ladies U-15 Division 2 Shield Final on Saturday at 12:10 in Dunganny.

This group of girls have been working hard all year and when they met Oldcastle earlier in the season in Millbrook they were most unfortunate to lose out narrowly following a last minute free.

Last weekend the U-13’s had great support and no doubt this will be the same on Saturday as our great supporters descend on Dunganny again to cheer the girls on.

As was the case last Saturday there will once more be an admission charge of €5 per vehicle as the Meath Ladies Co. Board look to affray the cost of hiring Dunganny for the day and pay the referees.

Girls U-13
Persistence paid off at long last for our U-13 Girls last Saturday when the girls won a final at the seventh time of asking by overcoming St. Colmcilles by 0-05 to 1-01 following a gripping encounter.

Scores were scarce throughout but chances were plentiful as both teams showed great commitment and commendable skill levels.

Our panel for the final was as follows – Ava Jane Ryan, Aine Nangle, Sadhbh McLarney, Zoe Kirwan, Aoibhé Monaghan, Lauren McCarthy, Caragh Monaghan, Lauren Donnelly, Orla Finnegan, Mallaidh Breen, Anna Wogan, Sinéad McLarney, Ella Kilfeather, Aisha Ogunyemi, Robyn Murray, Niamh Trainor, Ava Lyons, Zoe Ryan, Emily Navagh-Burke and Caoimhe Dunne.

Pitch Development
For many years now the club has been in need of a second playing pitch to cater for the large numbers of players we have lining out each year.
In total we have 24 sides between Men’s, Ladies and Juvenile which puts huge pressure on our current facilities.
This year we have been lucky to procure land adjacent to our current premises on which we will be developing an all-weather sand based floodlit pitch along with using some of the land we already own.
The total cost of this development will be €350,000 and to pay for this we are going to be embarking on a major fundraising drive.
Representatives from the club are currently calling to each house in the parish explaining why this pitch is needed and how people can help with our fundraising drive.
This new pitch will be a much needed addition to our facilities and will result in us having one of the finest playing pitches in the country.

Lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 4, 8, 13 and 15. There was no winner of the jackpot of €9,800 which means next week’s jackpot will be worth €9,900. The 5 by €25 winners were Tony McDonnell, Damien Clarke, Debbie Reilly, Lauren and Jack Freyne and Fr James Lynch

Tickets for the Lotto are €2 or 3 for €5. They can be purchased from committee members, Lotto sellers, local shops or you can also play online at http://www.helpourclub.ie/localhome.asp?

Meath Ladies Minors
The Meath Ladies Minors had a very successful season this year with our very own Róisín Commons a key member of their Leinster Championship winning panel.
Preparations are already underway for next year’s Championship with trials scheduled to continue this Saturday, November 714th at 10:30 in Drumree.
The manager for next year is Boardsmill’s Eamon Murray who was also in charge this year.
Any of our very talented players who are eligible for the Minor grade next year are encouraged to attend.

Meath Ladies Awards
Congratulations to Stacey Grimes who has been nominated for Player of the Year from the Coca Cola Meath Senior Football Championship.

Also our Ladies Chairman, Ollie Mulvany, has been nominated for Club Person of the Year at the Award Ladies Co. Board Awards Night. The following is why be believe Ollie is deserving of the award.

“Ollie has been a vital member of Seneschalstown GFC over the course of his life from playing Underage football right through to Senior and having the privilege of captaining our Junior B Team to Championship glory in 1996.
Since his playing days have finished he has thrown himself with great enthusiasm into the running of the club particularly the Ladies side. He has managed, and coached different teams since getting involved in the Ladies section of our club, fostering and nurturing the talent on many underage teams and is currently the trainer and coach of the U-11 girls and U-15 girl’s teams.
Ollie has shown a great interest in developing all the players, whether they be the county star or the player who struggles with the basics of the game and is always there with a quiet word of encouragement as he praises and cajoles the girls either in training or during a match.
Last winter when the club needed a new Chairperson there was one outstanding candidate and being the person he is Ollie didn’t fail to hesitate in accepting his nomination when approached. Others may have looked for excuses not to go forward for the position but Ollie looked at the broader picture and since taking it up has thrown himself fully into the role.
From organising training and fixtures, to looking after the children and pitches he is truly a loyal devotee to Seneschalstown. Whatever role he is needed to fulfil he does so without fail, whether that be putting the flags out before a game, doing linesman for matches or recording the match events to write a match report so the players could have their achievements recognised.
As well as all this Ollie is also very loyal to his county and he rarely misses any Co. Board meetings. The only reason he might miss one is when he is pursuing his other great passion in Badminton.
Over the course of the year we have had different players represent the county on underage teams and Ollie always strived to let our Club PRO know of these players and their fixtures so they could be wished well on our Social Media pages.
A hallmark of Ollie’s tenure as Chairman over the last year is that he would never request something of any person in the club that he would not do himself. Few people can have given up as much of their time in 2015 as he has and it is a testament to his hard work and personality that each and every player or parent/guardian in the club holds him in such high esteem.”
