U-17 Visit
Each generation in a club is really only minding it and passing the torch onto the next generation in the best possible condition.
Two gentlemen and club stalwarts who have done just that over the years are Kevin Farrell and Kit Carey.
With this in mind it was very fitting for the latest generation in the club to visit both Club Presidents recently with the U-17 Division 2 Cup which they had just won.
Team manager Ian Maguire along with captain Keith Waters, Brian Maguire and Sean Carey took the cup to show Kevin and Kit the latest silverware which has been brought back to Fr. Tully Park.
Both Kevin and Kit were thrilled to see the players bring the cup to them and it meant a huge amount for Kit to see his grandson with the silverware.
The two gentlemen have seen many trophies won in the club over the years with them approaching their 95th and 90th birthdays respectively and are looking forward to seeing many more.
And with people like Keith, Brian and Sean coming through as the next generation of club people we are in very safe hands.
Senior
Last Sunday saw our ambitions of winning this year’s Hoganstand.com Meath SFC come to a halt as we lost out by a wide margin to a very impressive Donaghmore/Ashbourne side. Turning in a flat performance was never likely to be enough to get the victory and so it transpired.
While this was a disaointing end conclusion to the season for the team they have provided the clubs supporters with many enjoyable days this year and will no doubt come back with a point to prove next year.
Minor
Sometimes no matter what you do you come up short in your endeavours and last Friday night was one of those occasions for our Minors. They put in an immense effort against Ballivor/Boardsmill in the LMFM Meath Minor Championship Division 3 Championship semi-final but in the final quarter the combination side pulled away.
With two players in their final year playing minor in the team and six U-15’s on the field of play last week the players gave it their all against a physically stronger side but while Ballivor/Boardsmill were very clinical at one end, we came up against a goalkeeper who was in inspired form at the other and had numerous goal chances thwarted.
From the panel we had for the League Final there were eight absentees in the semi-final for differing reasons but those who were able to tog out showed that the future is very bright.
The injured players will be back and will only add to the players who were on show on Friday and with the heart, determination and skill which were on show tonight as all year with this team there is no doubt that the future is incredibly bright for this side.
The journey may be over for this year but it is but a temporary stop and the long term journey of this team is far from complete.
There are many more chapters to be written.

Player of the Week
Congratulations to our latest selection as Player of the Week, Mallaidh Breen.
In last Thursday’s U-15 game against Donaghmore/Ashbourne Mallaidh was in outstanding form as she led the line at full forward.
In typically ruthless form she led the Donaghmore/Ashbourne defence a merry dance and ended the match with four goals and two points to her name.
Inside the opening quarter Mallaidh had already racked up a hat trick as the poacher supreme showed all the attributes which make her one of the most lethal forwards in Meath Ladies football.
Any day you outscore the opposition team you’ve had a great day and this makes Mallaidh a most deserving recipient of this week’s award.
