Seneschalstown 1-13 Ratoath 0-08
Seneschalstown’s U-17’s held their second game in the U-17 Div. 1B campaign on Sat 24th with a home game against Ratoath and after coming out second best in their opening fixture against O’Mahony’s all games were now knock-out in order to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals and this game wasn’t going to be any easier.

Seneschalstown’s U-17’s held their second game in the U-17 Div. 1B campaign on Sat 24th with a home game against Ratoath and after coming out second best in their opening fixture against O’Mahony’s all games were now knock-out in order to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals and this game wasn’t going to be any easier.
Again, missing the services of some of their more influential players Sean Commons, Conor Dunne, Will Finnegan and Woodley Nicholson due to injury they called on the services of U-15’s, Cathal Darby and Conor McDonnell who themselves were just after coming from a great U-15 win over St. Colmcilles in Laytown.
This was a very physical encounter from the outset with no quarter given by both sides with Ratoath opening the scoring with two quick points before Joseph Moore got the first Seneschalstown score before going a further point behind. It was at this point the Seneschalstown lads settled into the game and after having two goal chances saved and a number of narrow wides the lads found their range registering four points on the trot from James O’Hare, Kit Waddington Jeaic Timmons and again from Joseph Moore before Ratoath got their fourth point of the half This left the half time score at: Seneschalstown 0-05 Ratoath 0–04.
The second half started with Ratoath registering two early points before Seneschalstown got on the scoreboard again with points from Podge Finegan, James O’Hare, Ross Mullen, Kit Waddington, Jamie Kirwan and Joseph Moore. At this point the Seneschalstown defence really began to get to grips with the Ratoath forwards with Simon Rooney, Cathal Hickey, Cillian Lawlor and Liam Maguire dominating and with Josh Ryan and Tiernan Keogh winning their individual battles in the corners this helped set up numerous attacks and one which lead to a penalty when Tom Barron was dragged down in the square leading to a second black card for Ratoath and Joseph Moore slotted away the penalty.
The lads closed out the game with a final point from Ross Mullen giving them a hard fought but well-deserved win.
This was a real team display and one all the players can all be proud of, but the same level of performance will be required in the next game when they play unbeaten St Colmcilles in two weeks’ time.
