Seneschalstown GFC Club Notes 1st September 2021
Meath Minors: Well done to the Meath Minors who picked up the Tom Markham Cup for the
All-Ireland MFC after a nail-biting 1-12 to 1-11 win over Tyrone in the final at Croke Park last Saturday. This was Meath’s 4th title at this grade and first in 29 years since 1992.
Meath Ladies: The county have a second All-Ireland Final to look forward to this weekend as the Meath Ladies go in search of a first TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship title when they take on five-in-a-row chasing Dublin (throw-in 4:15pm Sunday). This will be Dublin’s eighth consecutive appearance on final day, so they will carry the favourites tag into Sunday’s game. Meath have plenty of momentum behind them as a result of the year they’ve had, from gaining promotion to Division 1 to the mind-boggling comeback against Cork in the semi-final.
We would like to wish Stacey Grimes, Caragh Monaghan, Aoibhe Monaghan and the rest of the Meath squad the very best of luck as they bid to bring the Brendan Martin Cup back across the border and into the Royal County for the very first time.

Meath Senior Football Championship: Hard luck to our Senior Men who were beaten by St. Peter’s, Dunboyne in Round 2 of the Meath SFC on Friday night.
Premier Championship: Our Premier Championship teams had mixed fortunes once again over the weekend.
On Monday night, the Division 1 side lost to Wolfe Tones on a score line of 2-14 to 1-13. With substitutes in short supply, the lads were pipped at the post thanks to a late goal from the home side. The effort could not be faulted as the team stuck with Tones throughout the game and even went ahead with seven minutes to go as Joe Sheridan found the back of the net. Brian Maguire did his best to ensure he would not be on the losing side, venturing forward from wing-back to kick four points in a hugely impressive display.
The team on the night was: Stephen Finnegan, Peter Tierney, Jamie Kirwan, David Fox (0-01), Cillian Lawlor, Conor McDonnell, Brian Maguire (0-04), Teean Cummins, Chris Dunleavy, Eddie Meade (0-01), Robert Wogan (0-02), Tom Smyth, Keith Waters, Joe Sheridan (1-04), Shane Mulvany (0-01)
On Thursday night last, the Premier Division 4 team continued their impressive recent form with a comfortable win over St. Michael’s by 1-16 to 0-05. You can read the match report here: https://www.seneschalstowngaa.com/content/mcevoy-nets-cs-win-comfortably
