Kilmainhamwood started their A league campaign with a deserved victory, at home to Seneschalstown.
The ‘Wood started brightest, going into 0-4 to 0-0 lead, with early points from Ray Cunningham, Micheal Shankey, Patrick Carolan and Aidan Crosbie. Seneschalstown came back into the game with a goal from Tony McDonnell and a point from Paddy O’Brien, each side of another Cunningham point.

Kilmainhamwood started their A league campaign with a deserved victory, at home to Seneschalstown.
The ‘Wood started brightest, going into 0-4 to 0-0 lead, with early points from Ray Cunningham, Micheal Shankey, Patrick Carolan and Aidan Crosbie. Seneschalstown came back into the game with a goal from Tony McDonnell and a point from Paddy O’Brien, each side of another Cunningham point.
Another Micheal Shankey point put the ‘Wood two points in front, only for Seneschalstown to draw level with two-points from play. With Paul Shankey and Aidan Crosbie dominating at midfield, Kilmainhamwood began to take control. A goal and two-points from Ken Russell and then a point from Larry McCormack gave Kilmainhamwood a six-point lead at the interval, 1-9 to 1-3.
The ‘Wood continued their dominance in the second half, with frees from Cunningham and Crosbie and a well taken goal from Micheal Shankey. Bernard Bennet further increased their lead with a point from play. Seneschalstown, who were reduced to 14 men in the second half when Paddy O’Brien received his seconmd yellow card, closed the gap slightly with a goal from Davey Byrne and a point, before Paul Shankey finished of the ‘Woods scoring. Late pressure from Seneschalstown could only yield two points. Best for Kilmainhamwood were Paul Shankey, Aidan Crosbie, Ken Russell and Micheal Shankey, while best for Seneschalstown were Brian Clarke, Brian Grogan, and Paul Carey.
