Wolfe Tones string of poor results continued when they went down to table toppers Seneschalstown in this Division 1 clash.
The hosts were the hungrier side and thanks to some outstanding scores deserved their eight point winning margin. Seneschalstown were first to register and were 2 points up after 5 minutes before McKeown pointed. Two more points for the home side were followed by a Ward free and an excellent Coleman point before Seneschalstown were awarded a penalty on 16 minutes which was put to the net to give them a 1-04 to 0-3 lead. Points were traded and on 21 minutes Sheppard fed Ward who fired low to the net to bring Tones back into the match. The hosts tagged on two more points and looked to be heading in three points up but a superb Tones move was finished with a thumping shot to the net from Sheppard to level matters.
Tones looked to have stayed in the dressing room as Seneschalstown tore them apart in the opening 13 minutes of the second half scoring 2-03 to lead 3-10 to 2-04. Ward again pounced on 46 minutes to find the net and points from Ward, Sheppard and Coleman brought Tones back into contention with six minutes left on the clock. But the home side were not to lie down and added 1-04 in the final minutes to seal a deserved win. Best for Tones were Sheppard and Coleman.
