Meath Senior Feis Cup
Seneschalstown 3-14 Dunsany 2-5
Seneschalstown Ladies advanced to the last four in the Feis Cup with a hard fought win over Dunsany in Skryne on Wednesday night under lights. Due to feis cup rules any player who played with the senior county team in the present or previous year, are inelligible to play, with the result that 8 of Seneschalstown’s starting 15 from last Sunday’s winning senior team cannot play. However, Seneschalstown started the game at the furious pace with Siobhain Sheridan and Roisin Nulty dominating the early exchanges. The Seneschalstown management team gave starting places to players for attendance and efforts at training and with the dust only settled on the celebrations after their county final win on Sunday Seneschalstown showed that they have strength in dept and a large panel of players to pick from.
The Seneschalstown full back line were immense through out with Elaine Byrne, Aodhait Mc Adam and Linda Quinn in unstoppable form. Deborah Dillon led the defence from centre half back and was in inspired form throughout the contest. Dunsany defence found the running of Orla Sheridan difficult to cope with and Emma Harris proved a torn in the side of the Dunsany defence with some great movement and well taken scores. Amy Carolan again showed her eye for goal bagging two well taken goals helping to keep the Seneschalstown noses in front.
The second half was dominated by Seneschalstown with Aoife Sheridan, Louise Byrne, Aurlitha Everard and Caroline Mooney all making vital contributions. Dunsany second half comeback was not helped by the fact that they had three players on final warnings for rough play at the end of the first half from ref Seamus McCormack.
In truth this was a true team performance by Seneschalstown and they showed no sign of fatigue from their county final only two days earlier. Seneschalstown supporters also turned out in numbers to support the team. Seneschalstown are now preparing for a Feis cup semi final against the winners of Royal Gaels and Na Fianna.
Best for Dunsany was Caoimhe O’Leary, Collette O’Connell, Christine Brooks, Sinead Cusack.
