Seneschalstown made amends in the Division 1 league final replay played at Dunganny last Wednesday evening and worked hard to overcome an early deficit when Donaghmore/Ashbourne raced into an early lead. Orla Sheridan fired two outstanding goals in the opening half to keep the Yellow furze side in contention while Mary & Aoife Sheridan, Edel McGrane and Eimear O’ Carroll (3) added points to leave the Seneschalstown side ahead by a goal at the interval.
The Seneschalstown side defended well in the second period with Philomena & Mary Sheridan, Louise McKeever, Deborah Dillon & Edel McGrane leading the fray and breaking down any Donaghmore/Ashbourne attacks. Seneschalstown continued to make use of any possession and worked tirelessly in the forwards to keep the Ashbourne defence under pressure which paid dividends in the finish. Goals from O’ Carroll and Emma Harris resulted in a comprehensive victory for the current Senior Champions. Captain Deborah Dillon received the League Cup on behalf of the Seneschalstown team and commended the Meath Ladies Co. Board fixtures committee for a well run league campaign this year.
