The highlight of the opening round of the Senior Championship was the pitting of the two ‘top guns’ of ladies football in Meath with Seneschalstown and St. Ultans drawn against each other. These teams know each other very well, and neutral supporters were hoping for an exciting and entertaining game.

The highlight of the opening round of the Senior Championship was the pitting of the two ‘top guns’ of ladies football in Meath with Seneschalstown and St. Ultans drawn against each other. These teams know each other very well, and neutral supporters were hoping for an exciting and entertaining game.
Both teams didn’t disappoint as this was a thrilling game from start to finish in Kiltale last Saturday evening. St Ultan’s opened the scoresheet with a point but then Seneschalstown replied with two points. It took 10 minutes for the teams to settle but Seneschalstown had most of the first half possesion. There were a few misses for the blue and gold but they lead at half time by 1-9 to 0-2.
One minute into the second half saw a yellow card for Roisin Nulty and this left Seneschalstown down to 14 for 10 minutes. The pressure was being placed on Seneschalstown’s defence and then they were given another blow when Louise McKeever was shown a red card. It was nail biting stuff and in this period and St. Ultan’s scored their only goal in this time but Seneschalstown held tough till the bitter end to win the game. Their were some great performances on the Seneschalstown team from: Mena Sheridan, Mary Sheridan, Fiona Mahon, Orla Sheridan, Debbie Dillion and Stephanie Byrne.
