Seneschalstown earned a place in the final of the Leinster Senior Club Championship with a phenomenal win over Ballyboden/St. Enda’s on Sunday.

Seneschalstown ladies gained revenge for their defeat by Ballyboden, St. Enda’s last year and booked their place in the Leinster Club SFC final following a comprehensive victory over the Dublin champions at Skryne on Sunday.

Ballyboden fielded nine players that were part of the Dublin panel that reached the All-Ireland SFC final, but the Meath girls weren’t daunted and led from start to finish. They were always in complete control.

The Yellow Furze girls defeated Ballyboden in the All-Ireland Sevens last week and held a psychological edge, but the loss of captain Louise McKeever to injury was a blow to the Meath side.

Seneschalstown gave a strong indication of their intentions in the early minutes as a superb Orla Sheridan goal gave them the lead which they didn’t relinquish for the remainder.

Ballyboden attacks were met by stern resistance from Philomena Sheridan and Dearbhla and Eimear O’Carroll while the Seneschalstown attack was on fire with the forwards accounting for all bar a point of the final tally.

By the seventh minute a brace of points from Adele Carolan and a superb goal from Fiona Mahon had stretched Seneschalstown’s advantage, but Ballyboden rallied briefly with a goal.

Further points from Orla Sheridan, Grainne Nulty, Mary Sheridan and Carolan and a Mahon goal gave the Meath girls a 3-6 to 1-3 advantage at the break.

Ballyboden opened the second-half in lively fashion and cut the deficit with a couple of points and forced Louise Byrne into a good save, but a Sarah Wogan goal settled Seneschalstown again and put them back on the road to victory.

Mary Sheridan added a fifth goal near the end to secure the Meath girls passage to a final meeting with Shelmaliers of Wexford next Sunday.

Seneschalstown – L. Byrne; E. Dillon, P. Sheridan, D. O Carroll; D. Mangan, E. McGrane, E. O Carroll; A. O’Connell, G. Nulty (0-1); A. Carolan (0-3), F. Mahon (2-2), O. Sheridan (1-2); S. Wogan (1-0), M. Sheridan (1-2), S.A. Carolan. Subs – C. Finnegan for O’Connell, R. Lynch for E. O Carroll.
