Further points from Katie O’ Brien and Duffy increased St. Ultans lead however an outstanding goal from Mary Sheridan and a Nulty point left the Yellow Furze side trailing by the narrowest of margins at the interval (0-6 to 1-2).
Despite the best efforts of the defending champions, a determined St. Ultans side continued to dominate with Geraldine Doherty excelling at midfield and O’ Brien, Duffy and Shauna Bennett causing problems in the visitors defence. Seneschalstown failed to make use of possession and relied too heavily on Sheridan and Nulty for scores. St. Ultans raced into a 5 point lead entering the final quarter however Seneschalstown responded with another outstanding goal from Sheridan to reduce the deficit to two.
Nulty reduced the gap further with a pointed free after Sally-Ann Carolan was brought to ground however the Bohermeen side replied with a fortunate goal from a Duffy free kick. Carolan closed the scoring for the visitors with a point while St. Ultans added two more points to claim victory. Elaine Dillon, Edel McGrane, Debbie Mangan, Sheridan and Nulty battled hardest for the losers. Overall this was an exciting and competitive match between the two sides that have contested the championship final for the past 3 years. Seneschalstown have yet to meet Dunsany, Blackhall Gaels, Moylagh and Simonstown in the championship.
