Croagh Patrick Climb
Saturday September 10th will see an army of Seneschalstown players, members and supporters head west as they undertake a sponsored climb of the famous reek.
The climb is in aid of our pitch development fund and work is progressing each week on our new pitch. Inside the next fortnight the grass seed will be sown on it meaning by the end of September next year it will be ready for action.
We have twenty-six teams representing the club this year meaning this second playing pitch is badly needed. Each climber next Saturday is tasked with raising €500 so all support is greatly appreciated.
Car Wash
As part of this fundraising drive there has been a sponsored car wash organised in Fr. Tully Park on Saturday morning from 10:00-13:00. Members of our U-12 and U-13 Boys teams have volunteered to clean as many cars in the parish as possible
Remember, a clean car is a happy car!
Senior
Following the postponement of Round 5 of the Hoganstand.com Meath SFC our Seniors next match will be against Na Fianna in the final round of the Division 1 League on Sunday September 11th at 15:00 in Baconstown.
Junior A
The Junior team crashed out of the Teach na Teamhrach JFC on Saturday last as they fell to a 6-08 to 2-11 defeat against Carnaross. The loss of three players over the hour to red cards proved to be too high a hurdle to cross.

Next up for the team is their final round game in the B League Division 2 when they travel to Nobber to take on their hosts on Friday September 9th. Victory in this game would keep the team in the promotion hunt.
Junior C
The Junior C’s bring their season to a conclusion on Sunday September 11th when they play host to table topping Donaghmore/Ashbourne at 11:30 in Fr. Tully Park.
Minor
The Minors will play Drumconrath/Meath Hill in Round 2 of the LMFM Division 3 Minor Championship on Wednesday at 18:45 in Fr. Tully Park. All support greatly appreciated.
U-16
Congratulations to our U-16 Boys who won the Patrick Ward Tournament Final on Sunday evening after an epic game against Simonstown Gaels on a scoreline of Seneschalstown 5-09 Simonstown Gaels 4-11.
The team lined out as follows: Brian Boyd, Jason Lyons, Simon Rooney, Fionn Hall, Cathal Hickey, Sean Carey, Jamie Kirwan (1-00), Daire Finnegan, Joseph Moore (1-00), Ross Mullen (1-00), Alan Mulvany (1-07, 0-03 Frees), Cillian Gormley (0-01), Liam Maguire, Ciaran Mongey, James Commons.
Seneschalstown Substitutes: Seanie Dalton (0-01), Alan Carey, Dylan Keating (1-00).
The club would like to thank Joe Ward and the extended Ward family for putting up the cup for the tournament and man of the match trophy for the final. As well as this they laid on a superb spread of food in the clubhouse after the game. Joe’s brother Patrick was a very promising young footballer whose life was tragically cut short in an accident at Seneschalstown Cross many years ago and this tournament is a fine way to keep his memory alive in the community.
U-13 Boys
They didn’t get off to the best of starts in the first half on Thursday evening against Skryne but the U-13’s turned in a great second half before ultimately coming up just short against Skryne on a score of Skryne 4-11 Seneschalstown 2-12.

Senior Ladies
The Senior Ladies have come second at the end of the group stage of the Coca Cola Meath Ladies SFC and will now face St. Ultans in the semi-final on Tuesday September 6th. Full fixture details will be posted on our social media pages as soon as we receive them.
Junior C Ladies
The curtain came down on the inaugural season for the Seneschalstown Junior C team following their semi-final defeat to a superb Simonstown outfit on Wednesday evening last. Although Shirley Quinn gave the Seneschalstown ladies the ideal start when opening the scoring after two minutes and the first ten minutes were evenly contested, the loss of a couple of players to injury didn’t help matters as Simonstown began to dominate.
In the second half scores from Aoife Sheehy and Siobhan Sheridan and the return of Mary Murray to action following a long layoff with an Achilles injury were the highlights of a difficult encounter and once again Seneschalstown net minder Linda Quinn was in fine form.
The decision to enter a second team was made in the late spring and while some had apprehensions about us fielding the mentors got together in the second week of June to draw up a list of potential candidates. As the word got out the numbers of those genuinely interested began to grow rapidly and with Sandra Watters representing us at the official launch of the championship the time for action was rapidly approaching.
With some seasoned campaigners coming out of retirement, some brand new players to the game along with players from our underage structure we fielded for the first round against Slane/Rathkenny. After a slow start we gradually got into the game trailing by a point at half time and in the end lost to a team with greater teamwork as they had played in the league earlier in the season but the seeds of hope had been sown.
Next up was Drumbaragh and victory was achieved which gave the girls and the management a lot of confidence and Club Team player of the week for Lucinda Healy. Na Fianna were next up on the list and a superb team performance ensured our second victory of the campaign. This victory had now put us in with a shout of possible qualification but defeat to a strong Simonstown outfit in the penultimate round qualification was on a knife edge.
The final round game was against Royal Gaels and after a torrid opening 10 minutes the girls knuckled down to the task and came away from Donore with a superb 3 point victory, Qualification for the semi-finals at the first attempt after an anxious wait on other results along with another recipient of Club player of the week in Emer Smith but alas further progress was thwarted by Simonstown.

Girls U-15
The U-15’s Girls have had a productive week as they picked up a draw and a victory from their two games.
In their opening round match away to Oldcastle they battled back to lead in injury time but Oldcastle made the most of injury time to kick two points and equalise.

Girls U-13
Last Sunday saw the U-13 Girls get life in Division 1 off to a winning start when they made a brilliant comeback to defeat Dunboyne by 3-06 to 0-10 having trailed by 0-07 to 0-00 in the first half.

Player of the Week
Congratulations to this week’s joint Players of the Week Alan Mulvany and Emer Smith.
Last week both players turned in match winning performances for their respective sides, the U-16’s and Junior C Ladies.
In Sunday’s Patrick Ward Tournament Final Alan took on added responsibility up front in the absence of key players and he seemed to revel in it as over the course of the hour kicked a very impressive 1-07, 1-04 of which came from open play while he also had a hand in a number of other scores as he showed off his creative side.
Earlier in the week Emer had also shot the lights out when against Royal Gaels in Donore she kicked 0-09, 0-08 of which came from play. In what was a must win game if the team were to qualify for the semi-final Emer showed all her class and leadership from the forty.
They are certainly two very deserving recipients of this week’s award.
U-21 Manager
Nominations to be for the role of Seneschalstown GFC 2016 U21 manager are to be provided to the secretary on/or before 6.00 p.m. Friday 9th September 2016.
Club Lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 9, 13, 16 and 27. There was no winner of the jackpot of €10,000 which means next week’s jackpot will once more be worth €10,000. The 5 by €25 winners were Philip Byrne, Trish Finnegan, Joanne Owens, Anna Marie Daly and John Reid.
