Syddan 1-13 Seneschalstown 2-03
Seneschalstown got life in the Junior C Championship off to a disappointing start on Sunday when losing out to Syddan by seven points.
On a day when numbers were very tight and key players were absent they struggled throughout against a more fluent Syddan outfit.
It took until stoppage time in the first half for the first score to arrive when Ivan McCormack hit a free and while they were slightly improved in the second half they still only managed one score from play, a fisted Eoghan Noonan goal. John Muldoon did put some respectability on the score when netting a penalty before seeing a second penalty, this one a panenka, clip the crossbar on the way over.
Best for Seneschalstown were Muldoon, Ivan McCormack and Steven Dillon.
Seneschalstown: David Gordon, Philip Sheridan, Ruairí Keogh, Cormac Mullen, Hugh Maguire, Steven Dillon, John Muldoon (1-01, 1-01 Penalties), Chris Dunleavy, Conor McCoy, Darren Donoghue, Ivan McCormack (0-02, 0-02 Frees), Thomas Ledwidge, James Gillic, Mark Gleeson, Shane Mulvany.
Seneschalstown Substitutions: Eoghan Noonan (1-00) for S. Mulvany, Shane Mulvany for D. Donoghue.
