U-16 Spring League Division 2 Round 6
Seneschalstown 2 – 12 Trim 1 – 07
In the final game of the league series both teams had a lot to gain and indeed a lot to lose with the winners going joint top of the Division 2 table and the losers potentially failing to qualify for the top 4 and a semi-final position, so the pressure was on from the start with the advantage of a slight breeze and the Seneschalstown lads really took the game to Trim and rattled off 1-01 within two minutes, the goal from Dylan Keating, before Trim came back with a point of their own. At this point Seneschalstown were in control in almost every position on the pitch and made this dominance count on the scoreboard with Robert Wogan scoring 6 excellent first half points from play as well as points from Brian Maguire, Dylan Keating and Cathal Finnegan before Jason Lyons, only on the field a matter of minutes as a sub for the injured Ciaran Mongey popped up and struck for a great goal to leave the half time score reading Seneschalstown 2-09 Trim 0-02.
The 2nd half was a tighter affair with Trim coming more into the game and scored three quick points before Seneschalstown raised a white flag with Cathal Finegan and Robert Wogan on the score board, at this point Trim were throwing everything into the game and scored an excellent goal from a quick free but again Seneschalstown weathered the storm with another point from Cathal Finegan completed the scoring and a fine victory for the Yellow Furze lads to leave them joint top of the table on 10 points from 7 games and safely into a semi-final position.
