Dunshaughlin got the better of Seneschalstown at Pairc Tailteann in the U14 league Division 1B final in an open and very sporting game of football, for which both teams deserve great credit.

Dunshaughlin got the first point of this game, through centre forward Conor Huijsdens after 5 minutes, of nervous play from both team. But this score did not settle our lads and it was Seneschalstown who came strongly into the game with 3 unanswered points.

The game turned into a real ding dong affair, from the 15th minute to half time, while Dunshaughlin hit 1 goal and 4 points, through Stephen Duffy, Tommy Kinsella, Stephen Farrell, Liam Carey and James Swan. Seneschalstown did not lie down and stayed well in the game by tagging on 3 more points to leave the half-time score: Dunshaughlin 1-6; Seneschalstown 0-7

After the restart, the game resumed a familiar pattern, with Dunshaughlin adding to their lead with 2 points and a goal, before Seneschalstown roared back with a goal of their own.

Then after 10 minutes of the 2nd half Dunshaughlin made two changes in quick succession, bringing on Jack O’Sullivan and Aaron Kealy for Ronan Geraghty and Tommy Kinsella, these changes helped us to take control around midfield, and with both subs adding a goal a piece we held on for a good win.

This was a real team effort and all the lads put on great display of football. In defence, Dan Orsmby, Josh Wall and Gavin Maher stood out, the midfield of Jack Kelly and Stephen Duffy put in a hard hours work, and all the forwards showed up well in this game.
