Seneschalstown under 16’s can hold their heads high having reached this Div.1B Leinster Final played as the curtain-raiser to the high-scoring Roscommon /Wicklow National League tie on Sunday last in Aughrim. On the day they met a very strong and capable Blessington u16 team who ran out convincing winners in the end .The Seneschalstown defence tried hard to cope with a slick-moving Blessington attack and goalkeeper Darragh Keogh brought off a number of vital saves before half-time. Also Seneschalstown’s captain and star player Niall McCabe was unable to start the game due to illness and this had a very disruptive and unsettling effect on the Seneschalstown team overall. Niall Lyons and Sean Noonan tried valiantly to turn the tide at midfield in the second half but, alas for Seneschalstown, this talented Blessington team were too strong to allow their early lead to be forfeited.
This Seneschalstown outfit can learn from their Leinster experience and can also look to the future as 10 players on view are still eligible for under 16 again next year.
